| Déscription | This program is primarily for students who wish to become professional realist painters. The Academy of Art Canada is an independent alternative in art instruction unlike any university or college fine art department program in North America. It is Canada's longest running traditional art academy. Similar to a small number of private ateliers and academise in Europe, the three level program is the choice for the aspiring professional realist painter who wishes to learn about the fine art of picture making in portrait, landscape, figurative and still-life realism.
The comprehensive curriculum covers a wide range of related aspects dealing with traditional methods and materials and places a strong emphasis on drawing fundamentals. Also the curriculum deals with historical drawing and painting techniques including the 16th century venetian technique and 19th century atelier method. Traditional resource material, cast replicas and live models are studied.
The AAC is Canada's recognized leader in traditional realist art instruction. The directors and instructors maintain the core belief that contemporary realist painters are trained and that as in the 19th century, the only prerequisites for artistic and commercial success are a strong program, a willingness to learn and a keen interest in traditional art. One on one instruction is provided in a warm and friendly atmosphere. |
